Thongyib Thongyod was founded by twin sisters from Isan, Thailand's northeast, in 2020. It started as a tiny cafe in Ao Nang during the pandemic.
Through passion and consistent work during the quiet Covid years, the cafe developed its recipes, signature coffees and sourdough menu. It grew into the brunch restaurant at Ao Nang Landmark today.

A tiny cafe opens into a storm
Twin sisters from Isan opened a tiny cafe in Ao Nang in 2020, during the pandemic. It was the beginning of the sourdough brunch restaurant that stands here today.
The slow years
Developing the menu
During the quiet Covid years, the founders developed menu recipes and signature coffees. The current menu now lists sourdough breakfast sets, toasts and grilled sandwiches.

A golden cafe by the beach
The cafe now has a long stone water table, outdoor seating and a menu of 146 dishes and drinks. The founders state that customers are the priority and that they read reviews weekly.
The name
Why golden desserts?
Thongyib ("pinched gold") and thongyod ("a drop of gold") are the tiny egg-yolk sweets Thai families serve when something good is beginning. The cafe is named after these two traditional golden egg-yolk desserts, and the current menu lists a Signature Thongyib Thongyod Set.
